Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Update 1

posted on August 5, 2008

Microsoft has released an update to the MDT 2008. There are two major features added.

  1. OEM preload scenarios for Lite Touch Installation and Zero Touch Installation with System Center Configuration Manager 2007
  2. a new management pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 SP1

The download to the new product is located in the Download Center.

Since its release, there has also been an guide to help people who have been losing their settings. To keep your settings in place after your upgrade (which is probably something you are going to want to do) check out the guide located at http://blogs.technet.com/msdeployment/archive/2008/08/05/how-to-upgrade-to-mdt-2008-update-1-lite-touch.aspx.

Vacation

posted on July 31, 2008

On vacation this week cranking this out on the blackberry in my tent out at the lake. I’ve managed to not think about work too often. We spent a few days touring and camping for a few now! but I’ll be back home on the weekend. I plan to study and clean up a little around the house.

Control Panel and Printing Problems in Windows Vista

posted on July 18, 2008

I’ve had a problem recently with my work computer. Windows Vista won’t print saying the printer isn’t connect and when I go to the control panel to see what is happening, it opens then closes before I can do anything. I am logged in as a regular user which is in a different domain forest then the domain forest that the computer belongs to. To resolve the problem temporarily, I go to computer management (right-click on my computer and click manage) and restart the software licensing service. Once it restarts, I am able to work and print properly again.

When I find more information on this problem, I’ll pass it along.
