Presentation on Deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007

posted on September 6, 2007

Do you live or work around Ottawa, Ontario? Do you want to learn how to deploy Windows Vista and Office 2007?

The Ottawa Windows Server User Group is presenting deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007 on September 11th, 2007 and Mitch Garvis is presenting the material.  There are two sessions, session 1 is for large business and government and it is at noon. The second event is at 5:30 and is geared towards small and medium businesses. I am planning to attend both events since I am driving up to Ottawa for the noon event, I’ll hang around for the 5:30 event. I’ll get value out of both sessions since I work in the government sector, but also some of the library branches are very small (2 computers).

Another Exam Down

posted on August 28, 2007

I decided to try 70-620 – Configuring Microsoft Windows Vista Client and was able to achieve a passing score.  I was pleasantly surprised.

If you are in the Ottawa area and are thinking of writing this exam but may want some help on it, check out the OWSUG study group. They are planning on working on this exam in the fall. Your truly will be one of the presenters on a regular basis.  http://owsug.ca/blogs/sms/archive/2007/08/26/Ottawa-Windows-Server-User-Group-Newsletter.aspx

EnergizeIT

posted on June 16, 2007

I haven’t blogged in a bit. I’ve been busy selling my house and moving. Now that I am moved and things are sort of back to normal, I hope to spend some more time back on the blog.

As the title of the post says, I am attending EnergizeIT. I got my hind end out of bed at 6:20, more or less cursing since the train left Kingston at 6:50 but I made the train with 5 minutes to spare. The train arrived in Toronto at 9:30. I got registered, sat down and then found David who also drove up from Brockville. The keynotes were okay, the topics were Secure Computing and Virtualization. Next was lunch, which was important since for me, it was the first meal of the day. Next up was a hands on lab on System Center, Garth Jones was procuring it.

While in there, I was interviewed by someone with Microsoft marketing about why I would take a 3 hour train ride to come to this event. Two reasons for me, the hands on labs and the networking opportunity. Even though it wasn’t live or not quite the scale of what Heather has been blogging about although it did have the boom microphone and such, I was still somewhat nervous as I usually prefer to be prepared for something like this, as today’s thing was off the cuff.  Anyway, I am just catching a session in the main area on Exchange unified messaging since I finished the HOL early, but this is finishing up and it’s about time to go to the next hands on lab.

More to come.
