Thursday, April 24th  5:30 – 8:30 PM

Business Intelligence Foundations & ETL Architecture

with SQL Server Integration Services

Session 1:  BI Foundations with SQL Server Integration Services, Christian Cote

BI solutions are all about providing the right information, to the right people, at the right time.  SSIS is a powerful tool designed to address the challenge of unlocking the silos of data that exist within most organizations.  Christian will introduce BI concepts, from data modeling to data warehouse implementation and will provide an overview of SQL Server Integration Services as an ETL toolkit.

Session 2:  Architecting an ETL Framework with SSIS, Christian Cote

Over 70% of the effort in a BI project implementation is spent on the ETL programming tasks.  Christian will demonstrate how a good ETL framework is essential in any large BI project; share ETL and SSIS best practices; and provide insight into an ETL framework implementation that he architected with SSIS.

Speaker Profile:  Christian Cote has spent the last 9 years implementing BI and ETL projects.  He has used a variety ETL methods ranging from applying low level coding techniques to deploying high end ETL frameworks and has worked with a variety of RDBMS products including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.  Christian is currently working on his fourth ETL implementation using SQL Server 2005 Integration Services.  Most recently he was a highly acclaimed guest speaker at Ottawa Code Camp 2008!
