New iPods

posted on September 7, 2007

Apple has refreshed their line of iPod’s. The one generating the most buzz is the iPod Touch, which basically is a iPhone without the phone. The iPod classic seems to be a bit stubbier and the nano received a bigger screen and the ability to do video. Looks like the shuffle received new colours. I think I’ll stick with my 30GB 5G iPod for the time being, I can’t say I really care for the new designs. The touch could be useful if it can open PDF files, but I still wouldn’t rush out and buy one though.

Presentation on Deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007

posted on September 6, 2007

Do you live or work around Ottawa, Ontario? Do you want to learn how to deploy Windows Vista and Office 2007?

The Ottawa Windows Server User Group is presenting deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007 on September 11th, 2007 and Mitch Garvis is presenting the material.  There are two sessions, session 1 is for large business and government and it is at noon. The second event is at 5:30 and is geared towards small and medium businesses. I am planning to attend both events since I am driving up to Ottawa for the noon event, I’ll hang around for the 5:30 event. I’ll get value out of both sessions since I work in the government sector, but also some of the library branches are very small (2 computers).

The full details can be found at http://owsug.ca/blogs/sms/archive/2007/09/06/2nd-presentation-added-on-Sept-11th.-.aspx

Microsoft exam 2nd chance is back

posted on September 5, 2007

If you are planning on writing a Microsoft certification exam, you might want to wait until September 15th when you can apply for the second chance. Same rules as before, go to Microsoft’s site and register before writing the exam, get a code and use that code when checking out of booking the exam with Prometric.

All the information on it can be found on Prometric’s site. http://www.prometric.com/microsoft/2ndchance. Trika, who is fresh back from New Zealand, also has some information posted on her blog. http://blogs.msdn.com/trika/archive/2007/09/05/2nd-chance-exam-offer-extravaganza.aspx

Good luck if you’re writing.
