2007 time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems

posted on January 5, 2007

In case you haven’t noticed, the US has approved a plan to change DST to the second Sunday in March. The time also falls back the first Sunday in November. Older Microsoft operating systems will need an update and from what I see right now, there are updates for Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista comes with support for the new standards built in. I can’t find any other support information on other Microsoft operating systems.  If I find information on the other Microsoft operating systems, I’ll pass it along.

The knowledge base article (Article ID 928388) can be found here and all the links for the downloads are contained within it.

Pure Geometry – A Good Way for a free Drink

posted on January 4, 2007

I saw this on YouTube today. There is a whole series of these on there but this trick is really slick. The long and short of this is, keep the extra items less than half the height of the beer glass and the circumference will beat the height. Might show this trick the next time OWSUG gets together at the pub.

New Microsoft Certification Live Meetings for SQL 2005 and Exchange 2007

posted on January 3, 2007

This is cross posted on my OWSUG blog.

For those interested in the new certifications, registration links for the SQL and Exchange cert live meetings are now live. If you are interested in either the Exchange exams or SQL exams, you might want to check out this information.

The first live meeting covers off the new MCTS and MCITP certifications for SQL 2005 announced last year. The meetings are on January 23rd, and like last time there will be two sessions with the same material, one at 7:30am PST and one at 5:00pm PST.

The second set of live meetings are on February 15th, cover Exchange 2007 and talk about implications for those who hold an MCSA: Messaging or a MCSE: Messaging certification. Again the times are 7:30am PST and 5:00pm PST.

You can check out Trika’s blog postings for more information and the sign up links. The Exchange information here, SQL information can be found here.
